从服装材料角度来说，濑兔毛比较短光泽好，很平整，不容易掉毛。

1. 貉子毛：

貉子体肥短粗，四肢短而细，尾毛蓬松，绒毛长3-3.5cm，针毛长5cm。貉子按产地可分为北貉子皮和南貉子皮。北貉子皮毛长绒厚，背毛呈黑棕或者棕黄色，针毛尖是黑色。

北貉子毛具有针毛长、底绒丰厚，细柔灵活耐磨，光泽好，皮板紧实，保温力强的特点。有的还可以拔去针毛，制作貂绒。貉子毛虽然遍布全国，但是仍然以乌苏里的貉子毛质量最好。

貉子毛好分为貉子背上毛、貉子肚皮毛与貉子的尾巴毛，各部分的毛价均不同。貉子的背上毛最贵，其特点是：绒多，柔软，毛针比较多而且长，毛针越密价格越高。貉子的肚皮毛和尾巴毛比貉子背上毛便宜一半左右，其特点是：绒毛多，基本上没有毛针，手感比较粗糙。

2. 濑兔毛：

濑兔毛是产于濑兔的体毛，一般使用时，连兔皮一起使用，赖皮兔是一种比较高档的兔皮，类似于野兔。濑兔毛没有针毛，毛都是粗细一样的绒毛，不会跟家兔一样，家兔是有粗细的两种毛，一种是比较长而且粗的外层毛，一层是比较短的绒毛。

濑兔毛的密度非常高，所以濑兔毛的毛都是立起来的，垂直于皮面。因为濑兔毛的密度很高所以说保暖性好，不容易掉毛。

皮草的保存方法：

1. 使用宽大型的大衣架，挂置皮草。

2. 最好挂在光线较暗，温度低而且通风良好、干燥的环境。

3. 皮草和其他衣服之间应该有大约6cm的间隔，保证让皮草“呼吸”。

4. 千万不要用普通的方法清洗皮草，应该定期到专业皮草店里清洗，一般两年一次。

5. 如果皮草不小心被雨水打湿，应该先用毛巾擦干，把水吸干，放在阴凉处通风，自然晾干。千万不要放在太阳下暴晒，皮草阴干后，轻轻揉搓皮板，以免兔毛变硬。

6. 不要在皮草上喷香水，以免造成皮毛发硬、变脆，甚至发出难闻的怪味。

7. 不要用普通的梳子梳理皮草。应该用梳理皮草的专用梳子。

8. 放置皮草时应该避免重压。皮衣出现褶皱时可用非蒸汽熨斗，在皮衣上放置一块丝质或者棉质里布，以中低温度来回轻轻的将其褶皱熨平，禁止熨斗直接接触皮革表面。
