习 性：集成十几到上千只不等的种群，生活在海拔4300米到5100米(最低3250米，最高5500米)的高山草原、草甸和高寒荒漠上，早晚觅食，善奔跑。

藏羚(Pantholops hodgsoni)属牛科、藏羚属，别名：藏羚羊、长角羊、羚羊，主要分布在中国青海、西藏、新疆三省区，现存种群数量约在7—10万只。由于藏羚独特的栖息环境和生活习性，目前全世界还没有一个动物园或其它地方人工饲养过藏羚，而对于这一物种的生活习性等有关的科学研究工作也开展甚少。
藏羚是中国青藏高原的特有动物、国家一级保护动物， 也
是列入《濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约》（CITES）中严禁进行贸易活动的濒危动物。藏羚羊一般体长 135 厘米，肩高 80 厘米，体重达 45－60 千克。形体健壮，头形宽长，吻部粗壮。雄性角长而直，乌黑发亮，雌性无角。鼻部宽阔略隆起，尾短，四肢强健而匀称。全身除脸颊、四肢下部以及尾外，其余各处被毛丰厚绒密，通体淡褐色。
它生活于青藏高原88万平方公里的广袤地域内，栖息在 4000 - 5300 米的高原荒漠、冰原冻土地带及湖泊沼泽周围，藏北羌塘、青海可可西里以及新疆阿尔金山一带令人类望而生畏的“生命禁区”，藏羚特别喜欢在有水源的草滩上活动，群居生活在高原荒漠、冰原冻土地带及湖泊沼泽周围。那些尽是些“不毛之地”，植被稀疏，只能生长针茅草、苔藓和地衣之类的低等植物，而这些却是藏羚羊赖以生存的美味佳肴；那里湖泊虽多，绝大部分是咸水湖，藏羚羊成为偶蹄类动物中的佼佼者，不仅体形优美、性格刚强、动作敏捷，而且耐高寒、抗缺氧。在那十分险恶的地方，时时闪现着藏羚羊鲜活的生命色彩、腾越的矫健身姿，它们真是生命力极其顽强的生灵！它性怯懦机警，听觉和视觉发达，常出没在人迹罕至的地方，极难接近。有长距离迁移现象。平时雌雄分群活动，一般 2－6 只或 10 余只结成小群，或数百只以上大群。食物以禾本科和莎草科植物为主。发情期为冬末春初，雄性间有激烈的争雌现象，1 只雄羊可带领几只雌羊组成一个家庭，6－8 月份产仔，每胎 1 仔。
